Privacy Policy — NeatTube

Last updated: March 2026

NeatTube does not collect, transmit, or store any personal data.

The extension runs entirely as a client-side DOM manipulation tool. It does not track your browsing activity, viewing history, identity, or any personally identifiable information.

The only external network request NeatTube makes:

When the dislike count feature is enabled, NeatTube sends an anonymous read-only request to returnyoutubedislikeapi.com containing only the video ID of the currently playing video. This video ID is already publicly visible in the YouTube URL. No user identifiers, cookies, or personal data are included in this request.

Data storage:

User preferences (such as whether Shorts hiding is enabled or the preferred video quality) are saved locally using chrome.storage.sync. This data never leaves your browser except to sync across your own signed-in Chrome devices via Google's standard sync infrastructure, which is governed by Google's own privacy policy.

Third-party services:

Return YouTube Dislike API (returnyoutubedislikeapi.com) — used only to fetch estimated dislike counts. See their privacy policy at https://returnyoutubedislikeapi.com.
